Bit

Bits are a category of item found in Tunnels from Nowhere. They are small depictions of characters usually dropped by a small random chance upon defeating the enemy, or by other special means. They appear as NES-styled versions of characters, specifically resembling sprites from Super Mario Bros. or The Legend of Zelda. They serve as a method to provide flavourful descriptions of the respective character, and can be consumed in exchange for some points or dropped on the floor when the player is finished with it.

Because of their sound effect and connection to retro video games, they are seemingly related to gamings.

Common Bits

These bits are dropped by common enemies, typically with a 1 in 50 chance. They give 50 points when used up. The order of the following list is based on the internal number order for the bits, even if it doesn't perfectly align with the enemies' order of appearance.

	Bitch	"Female green creatures who dwell in damp caverns to protect their young ones. Known to be crass."
	Ball Golem	"Ball-spewing robots programmed to guard their creators. Evidently, this one was not on your side."
	Ash Baby	"Evil spawn of soul-infused ash who hide themselves in burrows. Their flames burn with pure hatred."
	Shrodney	"Mutant mushrooms whose spores remained spread in the tunnels after a war. Shrodney is here to stay!"
	Skrawler	"Messy mounds of flesh with a hunger for more. Unfortunate souls adhered to these disgusting forms by force."
	Hill Jabby	"Primitive fighters who made the hills their home. They’re devoted to the Yoper, but it would probably kill them."
	Sloper	"A bubbly sea creature that just doesn’t stop smiling. It resembles a certain monster, in shape and name…"
	Shrumoom	"You bested the facade of this hideous fungal lump. What did your mushlets think? Did you even use them?"
	Duppy	"This round specter now haunts your pocket with ethereal whispers. Better consume it before that gets annoying."

Rare Bits

These bits can only be dropped by one-time or extremely uncommon enemies, like bosses, and are hence extremely unlikely to give you their bit on a playthrough without replaying a save. However, their odds of dropping are only 1 in 10. They reward 500 points when used up.
