The game is about descending several floors of a labyrinthine cave full of medieval fantastical creatures, such as skeletons, frogs and wizards. You must collect weapons, level up and fight bosses in order to reach the dark lord Rovgend who rules over the labyrinth.
The game began as a solo project that was meant to be made in a very short time span, until ideas for new features kept piling up. Throughout May of 2024, a modding competition was held in which Kjolt, bcfoss and jprik participated. Respectively, they made Rodney's Tunnel, Yick's Kingdom and Rovgend's Labyrinth: Dark Horizon. Soon after this, the others began to contribute to the base game, having made a largely unfinished start-to-finish framework of the game up until February 2025. Due to conflicts and uncertainties about fleshing out various aspects, the project lost much of its steam. As of early 2026, cflip focuses on engine coding to further polish the game at its core before resuming work on the actual game with a refreshed sense of direction.
