Mushlets are sentient gummy creatures appearing in multiple Kjolt projects. They are typically green with large white spots and have two black eyes at the front of their face just behind their outer flesh. There is a nucleus-like organ visible in the middle of their head, and they move by sliding on the floor with a single foot like a slug or snail. They are frail and either harmless or directly beneficial to the player.

Their name is derived from "mushroom" and the suffix "-let" used to describe small things, including animals. "Mush" also relates to their squishy physical properties. In some other languages, the second half of the name is more specifically derived from "puppy".

Lore and Biology

Mushlets are a basic kind of gummy creature that tends to live in temperate and lush areas, although they may live anywhere, including the vacuum of space. They are similar to both animals and fungi, their name being derived partially from mushrooms. They are sometimes produced through mushspawn, an egg that hatches a baby and is produced artificially through magic or organically. Designated birth-giving mushlets called Mushmothers can occur at rarity, becoming large and developing a mushroom-like appendage atop their head that grows and releases mushspawn. Basic mushlets can also breed with another by consuming a sufficient amount of fungal mass prior to mating.

Though they are often animalistic and mute, mushlets are able to perform many human tasks and partake of society.

Mushlets first appear as passive farm animals in Bathroom Blocks. They can only be spawned through mushspawn. If used on a mycelium block, a baby mushlet will immediately be born. Adult mushlets can breed by consuming mushroom cap blocks or wart blocks to produce a child. Unlike their other appearances, they are not opaque so their eyes and nucleus may be seen. Their sounds are shared with slimes.

Their coding was primarily done by dayofpi.

Rodney's Tunnel

Mushlets are ally units in Rodney's Tunnel. They are summoned with a Gummoning Staff for 60 mana and will pursue the nearest enemy, making direct contact to damage it. They vanish with a cartoon splat noise when defeated. They are very prone to taking damage and being killed but are effective in distracting enemies.
